I plan and coordinate programs that connect people with agriculture. From my office, I handle emails and calls, then travel to meet with staff, volunteers, and participants. I enjoy bringing everyone together to make these programs happen and help communities learn more about agriculture and food.

Job Requirements & Duties

  • Decide what a program will focus on and what it hopes to achieve, especially for food, farming, or the environment
  • Plan and manage the people, tools, and materials needed to make the program successful
  • Create a budget to cover all costs for the program or project
  • Keep track of schedules, tasks, and costs to make sure the program runs smoothly
  • Share updates with community members, partners, and sponsors about how the program is going
  • Work with outside helpers and suppliers to get the materials or support needed
  • Coordinate fundraising efforts to raise money for projects and programs
  • Gather information and write reports to show how well programs are working and the impact they have

Education & Training

  • A college diploma, university degree, or certificate in project management, social work, or a related field can help prepare you for this role. Courses in communication, leadership, and budgeting are also useful.
