Even though I have an office, I’m on the move almost all the time. I visit farms and outdoor venues, meet with suppliers, and run test setups for events like farm tours or agricultural fairs. Every day is different and full of new places to explore!

Job Requirements & Duties

  • Plan interactive activities and events that help people explore agriculture, food systems, and the environment, such as farm tours, workshops, or community fairs
  • Make sure events follow all safety, health, and legal regulations
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers to help run events smoothly
  • Handle event registration and create posters, social media posts, or other materials to promote events and attract participants
  • Work with sponsors and partners to plan events, set goals, and manage budgets
  • Negotiate contracts, track expenses, and make sure the event stays on budget

Education & Training

  • Many event planners have a bachelor’s degree in hospitality, marketing, communications, business, or a related field. Experience with agriculture, food systems, or community programs is also helpful.
