Even though I have an office, I’m on the move almost all the time. I visit farms and outdoor venues, meet with suppliers, and run test setups for events like farm tours or agricultural fairs. Every day is different and full of new places to explore!

Job Requirements & Duties

  • Plan fun activities and social events for people attending agricultural events, like farm tours, workshops, or fairs
  • Research rules and regulations to make sure all events follow the proper laws and guidelines
  • Hire, train and supervise support staff and volunteers needed for events 
  • Manage event registration and create promotional materials to generate excitement
  • Meet with sponsors to plan the scope and format of events, and to establish and monitor budgets
  • Negotiate service contracts, manage invoices, and track expenses

Education & Training

  • Many event planners earn at least a bachelor's degree in hospitality management or a related major. Some people who work in this field have degrees in public relations, marketing, communication, and business.
