Important Skills

Active Listening

The most important part of this job is to listen. People open up when someone genuinely cares and wants to hear what they have to say, and I make sure my patients feel that way.

It’s also important that I can offer people advice, and that I do it in a way that patients feel empowered and capable.

Having a positive professional relationship with patients is another part of their success, and stong people skills helps me create that relationship.

It takes time for people to change, or even to want to change. My role is to be encouraging and patient, and let them know that I support them even if things aren’t going as fast as they had hoped.
