While I get to work out of an office, I’m travelling almost constantly. I check out venues, I meet with vendors, I do test runs - and so much more. Every day is a different setting!

Job Requirements & Duties

  • Plan entertainment and social gatherings for participants
  • Research laws and make sure events are complying with these laws
  • Hire, train and supervise support staff and volunteers needed for events 
  • Organize registration of eventgoers and create promotional material to create excitement for events
  • Meet with sponsors to plan the scope and format of events, and to establish and monitor budgets
  • Negotiate contracts for services, approve invoices, and keep records of money 

Education & Training

  • Many event planners earn at least a bachelor's degree in hospitality management or a related major. Some people who work in this field have degrees in public relations, marketing, communication, and business.
