Job Requirements & Duties

  • Plan and oversee the building of farm structures or systems, like barns, irrigation, or equipment setups
  • Look at current farm equipment and find ways to make it work better and safer
  • Study how things like soil, weather, and water affect crops or animals, and find ways to improve results
  • Make sure all designs follow farm safety rules and government regulations
  • Write clear reports about designs and share them with farmers, engineers, and farm teams
  • Test tools, machines, and systems to make sure they work safely and correctly

Education & Training

  • A university degree in mechanical, industrial, or a similar type of engineering is needed for this job. A postgraduate degree can help you stand out, especially when designing systems and equipment for farms.
