I work with people, farmers, vets, and animals to create healthy nutrition plans. Sometimes I meet clients in offices or hospitals, and other times I visit farms to check on animals and make sure they’re getting the right food. I love helping everyone stay healthy through good nutrition.

Job Requirements & Duties

  • Oversee healthy meal programs in schools, hospitals, and communities to ensure safe, balanced food choices
  • Give advice to individuals and groups on healthy eating and food choices
  • Assess nutrition needs and create meal plans to improve health
  • Stay current with new research in food and nutrition
  • Work with healthcare teams, educators, and policymakers to promote good nutrition and sustainable food habits
  • Create and lead programs that teach healthy eating and the link between food, farming, and health
  • Communicate clearly with clients and healthcare teams to support nutrition goals
  • Support clients in reaching nutrition goals using practical tips and local, sustainable foods
  • Track nutrition needs and food intake to ensure a healthy balance

Education & Training

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related area like food science or biochemistry is required.
  • Dietitians also complete hands-on training to gain experience working with food, nutrition, and health programs.
