Job Requirements & Duties

  • Consult with farmers and agricultural clients to understand metalwork needs
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project plans for agricultural equipment and structures
  • Use welding tools and techniques to build and repair farm machinery, buildings, and tools
  • Follow strict safety procedures, including wearing protective gear and managing fire risks
  • Repair and reinforce worn or broken metal parts on agricultural equipment and structures
  • Design and fabricate custom metal parts and equipment tailored to agricultural operations
  • Practice environmental care by reducing waste and safely handling materials to protect farmland and water

Education & Training

  • Completing an apprenticeship or a trades program in welding is required for this job. Hands-on training teaches the skills needed to build and repair metal equipment and structures that support agriculture.
