Job Requirements & Duties

  • Create and test recipes and decide the best way to serve dishes
  • Plan and update menus and ingredients
  • Coordinate all the other cooks and food preparation workers in the kitchen
  • Hire and train new staff to meet the kitchen’s quality standards
  • Make sure the kitchen and its equipment are clean and ready to use
  • Talk to customers to ensure their dining experience is excellent

Education & Training

  • To become a cook, you usually need a trade certificate or something similar, along with lots of hands-on experience in the kitchen.
